Born in Germany (1988), works in Wuppertal. Rasmus Zschoch studied Composition at the Prince Claus Conservatorium and the Minerva Academy of Art in Groningen, the Netherlands. His work is rooted in a multidisciplinary approach, often incorporating performative elements and seeking the collaboration with artists of different backgrounds. As a performer, he mixes analogue sound sources with digital processing and effects, classically inspired melodies and harmonies with instantaneous and accidental noise. Contact microphones, self-built instruments, toys, as well as guitar and piano are parts of his ever-growing equipment. In his compositions and in his improvised performances, Rasmus is trying to find the essence of sound and music, researching the ways in which sounds occur in nature and the way humans modify sounds into music.
