Pétur Eggertsson is a composer from Reykjavík, Iceland. Visual, theatrical and conceptual aspects are intertwined with his music and add a layer beyond sound. He has experimented with scores and their connection to both performer and the audience: Scores as sculptures, found scores, scores generated by the audience and interactive scores. Another important part of his work is the role and psychological condition of the performer, which is challenged in many pieces. In his works, the performers may be given roles which influence the performance of the music, or may imitate each other, sonically and/or psychologically. His extra layer of theatrical interpretation can both expand a music-performance situation and also dissolve the idea of the classical concert as an error free recital.
