Ásdís Birna Gylfadóttir is an Icelandic visual artist based in The Netherlands where she currently studies Fine Arts at AKI Artez Academy of Art and Design in Enschede. In 2014 she graduated from Reykjavík School of Visual Arts with a matriculation certificate, there she discovered her passion for video art, as her final project was a video installation where she portrayed the power of thoughts through the imagery of uncontrolable water running through her own hands. In 2015 she attended the Folk Art School Kunsthøjskolen I Holbæk in Denmark, where she broadened her artistic horizon even more and explored different media and techniques. Afterwards, she moved to Copenhagen where she lived for a year emerging herself in the artistic scene in Denmark before continuing to Enschede. Ásdís’ work depicts her personal experiences in dreamlike installations and video pieces, where the audience is taken on a journey based on feelings, nature, and raw human interactions.
